Diani Beach Hospital

Diani Beach Hospital is located on the north side of the Diani strip just beyond Leisure Golf Club. It was established in 1997 with two private rooms, a pharmacy, laboratory and radiology department. Six more private rooms and a male and female general ward were added in 1998. The recent establishment of a physiotherapy department and ongoing acquisition of the most modern analytical equipment completes this IAMAT accredited facility.
The private rooms are for single occupancy. They are spacious and en-suite with bathtubs and shower. All rooms have split air conditioners, bedside nurse call system, digital satellite TV, DVD and a private balcony overlooking the lush green Leisure Golf Course. Each room has a fridge, phone and provision for Internet browsing.
Manned by experienced laboratory technicians using the most modern equipment available, it is open 24 hours a day. Investigations done broadly fall under:Laboratory
High Dependency Ward
The HDU serves to stabilize critical patients without need for unnecessary time delays in transferring them to Mombasa. It has the latest state-of-the-art equipment like HP Cardiac Monitor, Schiller First Responder Electronic Defibrillator (FRED), Drager Ventilator, Cardiofax ECG, bedside piped Oxygen supply, Pulse Oximeter and suction facilities.
A well equipped ambulance with trained staff is available 24 hours for emergency evacuation to Diani Beach Hospital or hospitals in Mombasa. The ambulance has a portable HP-cardiac Monitor and pulse oximeter, oxygen supply and suction-machine. The ambulance can be fitted with Defibrillator and Portable Ventilator when needed.
There is a well stocked pharmacy with most branded and generic medicines on shelf. They are sold at recommended retail prices. The Pharmacy is open 24 hours a day.
The hospital boasts a state of the art Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department. Sonopuls ultrasound stimulator, Endomed electrotherapy unit, TENS, Curapuls short wave diathermy, electric traction unit, and various exercise equipments, all from Enraf Nonius, are some of the hallmarks of this department to take care of the most common musculoskeletal ailments. It is run by qualified physiotherapists and is open from 9 am to 6 pm daily, Sundays included.
The dental department was established in 2008 and is headed by a qualified dentist. Some of the procedures that can be performed here include scaling, filling of cavities, tooth extraction, braces, RCTs, and implantology. At a later date aesthetic and restorative dentistry will be valued additions to the department.
